Three year old Winston was a cool cucumber when mounted for the very first time yesterday. Steven, Missy Power’s husband, did the honors. Winnie may not know it yet but his life is destined for dressage. But it’s always nice to have that saddle horn for the first time up. But, in this case, as soon as he got balanced under the extra weight, he walked off like it was nothing.
Three new geldings have joined the farm in the past couple weeks. First we welcomed Pam Cummings and her adorable Bashkir Curly named Kudry (Russian for Curls.) His name is so appropriated as every hair on his body is curly – even his eyelashes, mane and tail. He’s a dynamite dressage prospect with a well balanced trot and canter.
Yesterday, Missouri Freligh and her mom Carol trailered their horses in from Bishopville. Missouri has evented up to Prelim level and done the higher National dressage levels as well. She is anxious to get Scooter, her 25 year old QH gelding, back in shape to start competing at Second level again. Winston, her 3 year old Hanoverian gelding is just learning to carry a saddle. His future in dressage is assured as he is such a nice mover and Missouri is an excellent trainer of young horses.
Congratulations to Christine Eidson on the purchase of Tigger, whom she was previously leasing from Vicki Hall. They are going to be quite a presence at local dressage shows very soon.
